Things to do

Your holiday in beautiful nature means that hiking, walking, running and bird watching are right outside your door.  However, there are plenty of other activities to take part in during your stay here.

If you wish to see a quick preview of everything you can imagine doing on your holiday in the Algarve, visit this website:  Visit Algarve.

Monchique – The local town is a real gem.  Set high in the Algarve hills, it has managed to create a mix of popular tourism with traditional Portuguese culture.

The town square is flanked by a small number of cafes and restaurants that are open all year round and cater for most “tastes”.  Take a relaxing lunch next to the park and watch the the daily happenings of an enchanting town.

The main street, a steep walk up to the monastery above the town, is filled with galleries, local produce shops and a very popular chocolate and gift shop.  Meander through the tiny, cobbled alleyways and enjoy the shade afforded to you away from the heat of the afternoon sun.

The town has a number of small, excellent restaurants, where you will pay much less than those of the more popular, seaside tourist towns.  Many of the most visited eateries are set on the road to the Algarve’s highest point, Foia.  These restaurants offer amazing views down to the coast, some 20km away, while you dine.

Cycling – The Algarve is a wonderful place for cycling on holiday, all year round.  Whether it be mountain biking or road cycling, the climate offers over 300 days of sunshine for you to enjoy your time on two wheels.  If you are staying at Casa Londrina, then you are entitled to FREE guided tours with your host, Andy. If you wish to hire bikes, let him know and he will arrange for them to be delivered to the property.

Out and about – Taking advantage of the amazing nature the Algarve has to offer doesn’t have to be part of an organised activity.  The Algarve scenery is spectacular and is often overlooked when The Algarve is mentioned. Taking a drive away from the coastal areas to the many mountain villages, such as the nearest town, Monchique, will give you a feel for the real Portugal.  The countryside roads are little used and are in good condition, making driving a pleasure.

Algarve race circuit.  Called the AiA (Autodromo International do Algarve), this is one of the worlds best race tracks according to the professional drivers and motorcycle pilots who race there.  Race around on a motorcycle or car during well organised track days, or take part in go-kart racing on the fast, outdoor, international kart track.  The organisers also provide laps with professional drivers if you want to get a super fast experience.

As well as hosting a round of the World Superbikes, the circuit also hosts touring cars and sports car racing throughout the year.  Even better, the circuit is just a 15 to 20 minute drive from your lodgings                                           https://autodromodoalgarve.com/
